Mark 16:15 The Passion Translation (TPT)
And he said to them, “As you go into all the world, preach openly the wonderful news of the gospel to the entire human race!
Each Thursday evening we pack up hot nutritious meals cooked by our volunteers in the Community Kitchen initiative of Heartstrings Community Project and items from our Pilgrims Pantry (toiletries, bags, beanies, gloves, medicinal ointments) and take them down to our friends on the Durban Beachfront. We show up week after week, regardless of the weather to build friendships and a sense of family.
Our friends are sick and suffering right on our doorstep and we do what we are called to do. Sex workers, addicts, gogos, the homeless and those that just need prayer or a meal, men and women coming together. Community, fellowship and love.
Each week the numbers of those coming for a hot meal has increased, and yet God ensures there is always enough in the pots so that everyone gets a hot meal in their tummies.
We are ever thankful to the One who called us, for His peace that prevails over the area where we set up, so that all can come knowing we do not judge – we are here for them to talk to, to offer counsel, to pray for them. And we are seeing change – faith is rising! Men and women, young and old and from all different walks praying for each other, lifting each other up and encouraging each other.
